Description: The LiMWA, or Limit of Moderate Wave Action, is comprised of coastal areas that have special flood hazards associated with wave action and storm surge. These coastal areas receive 1.5-feet or greater breaking waves during the 1% annual chance flood event and require building construction with higher standards. The addition of the LiMWA area to FIRMs allows communities and individuals to better understand the flood risks to their property.
